Simone's Studio of Atlanta, Georgia  is set in a space bathed in natural light and sits far off a main highway of a relatively quiet, typically suburban area.  Against the normal sounds of neighbors going about their daily routines, an occasional dog bark or children playing,  you will hear  the sound of music comming from  Simone's studio. The studio is surrounded by an enclave of Red Oaks and Georgia Pines so the music floats out gently up to the road. The music is not a loud reverberating sound nor  is it accompanied by in-your-face lyrics, but it does beckon for your attention. The energy from it is upbeat, regenerative, positive. The musical line-up for any given day is hard to predict.  Some days you will hear jazz, another day you might hear the old crooners from the 50's and 60's, or, Delta blues.  Still another day, you might hear Motown or Pop classics.  The music is a catalyst, the driving force for creativity and has been since early childhood.

Simone first began painting when an older sibling gave her a paint-by-number set at age 4.  The colors and shapes came together on that simple painting, as did Simone's dream of being an artist. She studied art in college and has worked as a graphic designer.  This career turned into that of a full-time fine artist.

Simone's creative palate includes painting, printmaking and works on canvas. (She recently began painting large scale murals.) Subject matter may be musical settings, imaginary portraiture, abstracts or figures. Her style can be described as cubist with a hint of 1920's Art Deco style.

The works are inspired by designs from Japanese woodblocks, Picasso's cubist period and Matisse's cut papers. Much of the draftsmanship reflects the geometric dissection of the image plane which typifies the cubist style. Simone exhibits work in fine art festivals around the country. She also works with interior designers and fine art consultants for corporate, public and residential settings.

She was featured in the magazine, "Up Close and Personal" (November, 2007) She talks about her work and how her style has evolved.  From October 19 thru November 17, her work will be featured at Amayah's Framing Boutique in Fayetteville, Georgia at the Bank's Crossing Shops.
